This hotel diminished my expectations that Alaska hotels would be run down, made of ice and probly smelling like curry. The front desk service took care of our registration before we got to the hotel. The bellman took out bags to our rooms because we got stuck in Seatle due to fog. We slept in the following morning and housekeepers obeyed our do not disturb sign. There is a bar in the lobby area t... [more]hat serves the best mixed drinks I've ver had. The only thing I thought needed improvemnet was the room size. The hotel is the largest in Juneau. In walking distance of everything down town. Good bang for your buck.

The Baranoff is just a short walk from the state capitol, making it an excellent location for easy access to lawmakers.

More importantly, in the numerous times I have stayed at the Baranof over the years, I have the staff to be "service oriented," and willinging to do whatever it takes to make one's stay at the hotel a pleasant one.
