Seneca Hotel & SuitesUser reviews for Seneca Hotel & Suites
By • I could live at the Seneca
Overall Rating: 10 The Seneca has an old charm about it. The room was wonderful, and was like an apartment with 6 closets. It has what some are calling a kitchenette, but it's a damn kitchen. Full size fridge with freezer, stove, dishwasher, sink, enough electrical outlets to run anybody's little kitchen gadgets, there was also a toaster, dishes, pots and pans, etc. The bed was pretty comfortable, there was even a china cabinet. They had free wireless internet access, the doormen are real cool guys, the furniture's all vintage and cool, it's right in the middle of downtown, there's 2 TVs to a room, the windows open out to a fire escape, it's just way cool. Next time I'm in Chicago, I'd gladly stay at the Seneca. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By katiefred1 from Coeur d' Alene • Great Value
Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [8] • Service [10] • Value [10] We loved the Seneca Hotel, we stayed there on our honeymoon. It was a really neat hotel, very old-fashioned. The price we got was amazing, and the location couldn't have been better. We loved it and will definitely go back!! Overall Rating: 8 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [8] • Value [10] We loved the location of this charming hotel. Its directly behind the John Hancock buklding and walking distance
to many fine restaurants, shops and attractions. Ours was a suite, with a small kitchenette, and large sitting room. We paid $169/night but the big hit was the parking at an additional $38/night. I did check online at other hotels in that area and they all had a similiar parking charge. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By marciodias from Rio, Brazil • Going back again
Overall Rating: 8 Location [10] • Room [8] • Service [8] • Value [8] Liked location, appearance, comfort, internet connection.
Disliked phone service, for it gets into voice mail after third ring, sometimes leaving you no time to answer. Might be a problem of a particular apartment, for it was not like that in my first stay.
Anyhow, the general impression is so god that I am making another one-month period reservation, after having spent already some 75 days at the hotel since last December. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By Hidden Vacations User from Illinois • Avoid This Dump
Overall Rating: 2 Location [8] • Room [2] • Service [2] • Value [2] We arrived and found the hotel did not have our reservations. They tried to blame the problem onto AAA. They charged us double the rate that we had booked for. The front desk was rude and arrogant and the manager was of little help. He did agree, after we had left and AAA made several calls, to lower the rate back to the original amount. The rooms were not clean. The vents were covered with mold and mildew and the air conditioner leaked in the closet. The tv remote in the living room did not work and the cable went out several times. This place is not worth the money when so many other hotels nearby are priced similarly. STAY AWAY!! Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10] Everything from the moment we arrived was much more than we had expected.
The Valets, and Front Desk Attendants were very friendly and helpful, the room was large, luxurious and incredibly clean, the location is perfect for shopping Michigan Avenue with everything in walking distance, even the beach on Lake Michigan is just a few blocks down.
I have been to Chicago several times and this was one of the nicest overall hotel experiences I have had. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By Hidden Vacations User from Jeffersonville, Indiana • It was Ok
Overall Rating: 6 Location [8] • Room [6] • Service [6] • Value [6] The hotel was ok, it was very pricey and is an older hotel that has some modern updates the elevators are terribly small only enough room for about 4 people at a time, this is a more of a hotel if you might want to cook while in town with the small kitchenette that is there, we did not use it but it was nice to have the refrigirator. The rooms were small not very big the bathrooms were older style things but over all it was nice but for the money we spent would have preferred more up to date things. Great distance from michigan ave, and this hotel was alot cheaper then most of the hotels that are just a block away. Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [8] • Service [10] • Value [10] we were treated like royalty, concearge and bus boy went out of the way for us, remembered our names, we've been there 2 weekends now for city getaways, like the kitchen in the rooms and size of the suites, convienent to all north michigan shopping and nightlife. Overall Rating: 4 Location [10] • Room [4] • Service [2] • Value [4] | Location and Steak house are both excellent | | none |
Upon Arrival room book was not room provided. We were downgraded and no adjustment made. The bath/shower was just gross/mold broken shower head. When I requested either a room change or housekeeping correct issue, we were treated rudely and told "This isn't a 4 star hotel" No kidding!!!!! With all the hotels in Chicago, there is no reason to stay at the Seneca! Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By Hidden Vacations User from Cincinnati • delighted
