Stayed with my wife at the Essex hotel on the last night of our trip to Florida and we were pretty surprised the hotel was not up to above average standards. The rooms smelt of smoke heavily and the bed spread had iron marks on it. Then the next day they were doing lots of construction in the hallway, so it made it quite noisy in the morning. I have stayed here many times over the years and the staff always remebers me when I come back. Thce servie is wonderful and the location couldn't be better. Though not right on the ocean they do feature ma small quaint pool and it is only 1 block away from the hottest part of the Miami strip(restaurants/clubs/shopping). Not to mention only a few blocks away from my favorite place to eat The N... [more]ews Cafe.

The regular rooms are small BUT ask for one of the suites(not much more $)and you will find yourself in a beautiful suite with a huge bathroom(including 2 person jacuzzi tub and a tv) and a spacious sitting area with a wet bar that faces a small court yard. [less]

	Great advertisement pictures
	Room was filthy

You would think for how much money they make they could at least paint the room. Room was filthy with furniture old and in disrepair.Hotel in nice area with a nice reception area but thats it. Hallways dingy and worn.I took my date there and she asked to leave.
