The Ritz-Carlton, New OrleansUser reviews for The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans
By Hidden Vacations User from San Francisco • Not up to Ritz experience
Overall Rating: 6 Location [8] • Room [10] • Service [6] • Value [10] We had two families with kids stay at the Ritz. The Hotel was nice, clean and with exceptional service with the concierge, check in and housekeeping. The biggest disappointment was that our door extra lock was broken (never fixed) and the tea service was HORRIBLE. It took them 45 minutes to bring us tea and 1 1/2 hours for any snacks. It was not even crowded. The area around the hotel is smelly and not good for kids. Indoor pool was dinky. Fitness area was okay.

Overall Rating: 10 Location [8] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10] This is a superb place to go in New Orleans. If you enjoy great jazz music you MUST go to the piano bar while there and see Jeremy Davenport who plays on the weekends. Pure jazz talent, great dessert, comfortable atmosphere, and if you can make a small space for yourselves - great place to dance with the one you love. Overall Rating: 10 Location [6] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [8] Since we first stepped foor into the hotel, everyone was so nice. The room was wonderful and the service was even better! The location wasn't bad, only 2 blocks away from Canal St., and the view from our room was so-so. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By • Not what you expect from the Ritz
Overall Rating: 6 Location [10] • Room [6] • Service [6] • Value [6] The worst Ritz- Carlton I have stayed at. The service was way below any Ritz- Carlton I have ever stayed in. The bed was sub-par and the room was average. The staff was very average, not what you expect from the Ritz. The location however was great. Overall Rating: 6 Location [8] • Room [4] • Service [6] • Value [6] We stayed at here during Mardi Gras. The hotel was conveniently located near all the activity - parades and parties - but was never noisy at night. The beds were incredibly comfortable but small. The view was worthless. The room was big but sparsely decorated, one desk shoved into a tight corner next to the window...and the room was dirty at check-in. There was trash leftover from the previous guests in the bins and under the beds. Housecleaning never came in the three days we were there - and we had to call for towels daily. Poor concierge service too. They billed me for parking even tho I didn't have a car (which they reversed later)
The spa facilities were great but overall, there are much better hotels with competative pricing. Generally I like the Ritz-Carlton and I'm in New Orleans every year but I'll never stay at that Ritz again. Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [8] • Service [10] • Value [10] Despite the Renovation, the historic hotel was such a treat. Enjoyed all amenities: in house spa, feather-down mattress and linen, location in regards to downtown N.O., the wonderful food and delectable selection... Highly Recommended Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By • Fantastic service, on par with other Ritz hotel visits I've had
Overall Rating: 10 It's great when you are visiting a city to have a hotel that truly caters to your every need, and adds a few extras that you hadn't thought about. That's the Ritz in New Orleans. Now my son wants to attend Tulane, and his mom & I think we'd visit often. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By Hidden Vacations User from Michigan • Would definitely stay here again
Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10] | Great location - one block from Bourbon Street | | none |
Great hotel - good location, amenities. Nice room, friendly staff. During Mardi Gras bellmen went out of the way to help with cabs. Would recommend without hesitation to others. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By • Fancy hotel....horrible location.
Overall Rating: 6 Nothing too much out of ordinary for this particular Ritz-Carlton, when you compare it to other RC's. Unfortunately, the location is AWFUL, as it's about a block away from North Rampart Street (notorious for crime). The hotel is a little far from Bourbon Street, and it's a rather long walk to the French Quarter from the RC. The hotel is located on the northbound side of Canal Street, and traffic can be a headache in the afternoons. If you just want to stay at a fancy hotel, consider staying at the “W” on Poydras Street instead of the Ritz, as the amenities are about the same but it’s MUCH easier to get to by car from I-10.
