I loved the old hotel feeling you should experience in New Orleans. The location was great being away from the main party streets, but not that far away neither. Easy access to the trolley and many good restaurants one block from the back of the hotel. French market was only 2 blocks down too. The only problem was when checking out, was the woman at the desk would not let us use the suitcase cart ... [more]

My family and I have been staying at this hotel for 25+ years and always enjoy it! Herman and the rest of the staff treats us well and always makes sure we are taken care of completely. From the Parlor Suites to the regular rooms, it's old New Orleans hospitality at it's finest! I highly recommend a stay at this fine establishment.

The overall design of the place was beautiful but inside the hotel it smelled of mildew. It was in a great location and the staff was friendly but the security personnel in the parking lot or at the main parking entrance were awful. Prepare to be furstrated.

The Le Richelieu in the French Quarter stands only a block from the French Market, two blocks from hopping Bourbon Street and four blocks from the shops, cafes and entertainment of Jackson Square. Although located in a quiet part of the French Quarter, the hotel is still within walking distance of restaurants, shops, attractions and live entertainment. For travel beyond the French Quarter, public transportation in the form of buses and historic streetcars is convenient and cheap.

This restored building dating from 1845 became a hotel in 1969 to capture the flavor and essence of New Orleans. The location on a residential street a block from a historic convent feels like a step back in time. A café and late night lounge draws both guests and locals to their intimate environs. Ptrons can relax while swimming in a heated outdoor pool and lolling on a garden patio.

The 86 guest rooms feature colorfully painted walls, matching linens, artwork and brass ceiling fans. Other amenities include refrigerators, data ports, and color TV with satellite channels. Paul McCartney even stayed for two months in one of the 17 suites.

Although only two blocks from the rowdiness of Bourbon Street, the Le Richelieu is just far enough from the fray to offer guests, especially families, romantics and ex Beatles, quiet stays. So if guests want to experience Old World charm, the French Quarter's European character and the quiet intimacy of a small hotel, then the Le Richelieu can't be beat. In fact, Conde Nast Traveler agrees: "For lodging, Le Richelieu is about as quiet and cozy as it gets in the Quarter."
