The Palms Casino ResortUser reviews for The Palms Casino Resort
By rfraioli117 from New York • Won`t go back
Overall Rating: 4 Location [4] • Room [10] • Service [4] • Value [6] Checked in went to room and it was very nice.Took a stroll and found casino small and cramped. Next went to check out the pool. Found it very small and closed for season. (1st week of Oct.? )Was never informed when we booked. Asst. manager at front desk said they had no control since pool, clubs and eateries are run by an outside Co.He told us we could get a refund and go somewhere else. He never offered us any comp. to keep us there. They really didn`t care. They never refunded our money until numerous calls were made after we got home, and threatened legal action because of their misrepresentations on web-site. Went to Mandalay Bay, told them abouy or bad experience and were immediately upgraded to a suite without even asking, that`s how to treat a customer. Overall Rating: 10 Location [8] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10] The Palms is a hip, trendy hotels/casino which caters to everone. You don't have to be young and rich to be welcome at the Palms. All are welcome and treated with respect by a friendly, caring staff. A fun place for one and all. Overall Rating: 2 Location [6] • Room [2] • Service [2] • Value [2] This site asks you to write 2-3 paragraphs for your review, I could write 2-3 pages on how over-rated this place is.
The customer service was the worst I have ever experienced in Las Vegas. I've stayed at Mirage, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, and the Four Seasons and the customer service was increadible, it has to be in such a competitive industry. But at the Palms I guess you have to be Brittney Spears, Dennis Rodman, or some other celeberity who is in good with the Maloofs to get any kind of service at the Palms.
We received smoking rooms instead of the non-smoking rooms we had requested. We left our room to play golf on Monday around 11am. When we returned after 7pm our room had not been refreshed. The waitstaff on the floor of the casino were very rude and so were the dealers. After our group won $$ at the dice table we decided to leave and go to Bellagio and that was the best thing we could have done.
If your worried about the location, don't be. Being off the strip wasn't a problem at all, as a matter of fact, it was quite nice to be away from the madness.
If your going to party, this is probably a great place. We didn't get to hit the Ghost Bar because it was closed for a private function the night we wanted to go so we went somewhere else but I'm sure it would have lived up to the billing. Rain was closed but we knew that before we got there (it's only open thur-sat) and it probably would have lived up to the hype as well. Since we couldn't party at the hotel we were left with just the casino and as a casino, the Palms just doesn't get it done. I wouldn't stay there again. There are just too many other good choices to settle for this one. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By Hidden Vacations User from Patrick from Washington, DC • Not Worth Going Off-Strip
Overall Rating: 4 Location [2] • Room [10] • Service [2] • Value [4] The Palms, Las Vegas is touted as the hip location for the young and jet-set. All anyone hears is how the young celebrities parade around and how well connected George Maloof (owner) is to celebirities. So, being a sucessful 23 y/old who travels to Vegas a number of times a year, I decided to check out the Palms.
The recommendation, don't go there. I went with my fiance, and expected the same level of service that i recieve at my regular strip hotel, along with the party atmosphere that is advertised. Neither were visible. The "young and hip" staff is mainly filled with grumpy 30 somethings, and the entire casino has more preening security gaurds that dealers. Much of the clientel (ironically are older than 40) have mistaken the casino for a strip joint where they are either auditioning for a job or already have a job. Those young hipsters that are supposed to be there, are really just college kids with their polo collar turned up, (which in itself is annoying enough since most of them don't even realize WHY the collar is turned up), pretending they just rubbed elbows with a random blonde woman they claim was Brittany Spears. These college students (which admittedly i was once too, but didn't act a fool) sit there blowing their entire $100 bank roll on one roulette spin, all of them trying desparately to look like high rollers. The tables are taken up by 1 person actually playing and the rest mooching free drinks, so that those of us that do want to play can't get a seat, and the grumpy 30 year old dealers are to disgruntled to ask the non-playing patrons to give up their seat.
Vegas casino quality can usually be separated into two classes; those with McDonalds inside and those without (without being a world of difference in terms of service and comfort). Not escaping irony, the Palms and all of its advertising, cannot hide the fact that a big neon golden arches is located in their casino...nuff said. Overall Rating: 8 Location [6] • Room [8] • Service [8] • Value [8] The Palms was plain and simple. I don't have anything bad to say about it, but I also don't think it was spectacular. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the service was good. It was off the strip but it wasn't far...we taxied everywhere we went anyway so not a big deal. Overall Rating: 8 Location [4] • Room [8] • Service [8] • Value [6] We stayed there because it was the "hot" hotel, but the location stinks. You have to take a cab to get to the strip, so that means everywhere. The room was the size of a box and inefficiently designed. Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [8] • Value [6] | Sights, food, balance between gambling and gawking | | none |
What needs to be said about this chic Las Vegas casino that has not already been spread through the grapevine of the hip and cool? Well, that it actually provides the best balance in Vegas for a group of people some of who want to mix it up at the Ghost bar and others who want to gamble/watch sports. The crowds are ridiculous at times, and certainly ridiculously good looking. The Nine steakhouse is my favorite place to dine in Vegas with amazing food, decent prices (for upscale Vegas) and great people watching even if you have a 6pm reservation that was made last minute. Staying at the hotel is a good idea if you want to get into the clubs/bars without waiting in a huge line. Prepare yourself to grease just about anyone if you want extra attention/tables at these places as well. It is worth the money, though if you can afford it as the service steps it up dramatically when there is money to be made. Have fun at adult disneylands coolest place... Overall Rating: 10 Not only are the rooms roomy, very clean & comfy - the hotel itself has so much that you don't even have to leave if you don't want to! It's not on the "strip" but it's definately close enough if you want to hit the other bars. But The Palms has the Ghost Bar, Rain, N9NE Steakhouse and Skin Pool Lounge! They even have a movie theatre (if you need a mini mid-day break) and other places to eat if you don't want to be fancy (Sunrise Cafe - 24hrs & a food court.) Of course there is the casino and the casino bars too. Ghost Bar's view of Vegas is absolutely breathtaking and the partial glass balcony brings a daring aspect to the night which can be interesting after a few cocktails! I dare you to stand on it w/o being afraid! The Skin Pool Lounge gets a little crowded, but it's completey expected when you are in Vegas, the party never stops! The staff was absolutely wonderful - always w/ a smile and very very helpful! To top it all off, it houses the Mtv Real World Suite which can be rented out to high rollers. I will definately go back, sooner than later!! Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By Hidden Vacations Traveler from Sunnyvale, CA • Get ready to party
Overall Rating: 8 Let's face it; you're not going there for the location. The Palms Casino Resort is the hotel where they filmed the Real World a few years ago. The hotel is adequate; nothing special. However you're within walking distance to Rain and the Ghost bar. In addition to the great night life, they also have a wonderful steakhouse called “Nine Steakhouse”. “Little Budda” (an Asian restaurant) is wonderfully decorated and is worth checking out for the sake. Overall Rating: 10 Location [8] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10] The hotel desk is unobtrusive. There is a 24-hour security officer for admittance to the room elevator and nightclub access. The desk clerk let us leave a credit card slip at the counter and go upstairs to inspect the luxiouriously modern room. The bed had Eygptian cotton & down-filled linens. The furniture was covered in real leather. There were quality, name brand toiletries in the bath. We previewed the selection of beverages,as well as candy and snacks in the mini bar.We called downstairs and booked the room.We liked it so much;we stayed in there for about two more hours. The restaraunts were busy and had lines, we had to wait five minutes. It was Luau night at the buffet.Patrons were encouraged to get up and dance the hula. There was a live band playing. We enjoyed the wide variety of Asian and Polenesian food. Afterwads, I got a player's club card. They have a great comp system and I earned a free two night visit on my first stay!I was dissapointed that the spa was booked up.(Get reservations a couple weeks in advance if you can.) Also upstairs the show was sold out-No Doubt was playing and the crowd downstairs was young, hip and lively. The casino floor is open and airy, but is a little maze like.I like the central bar that opens to the blackjack area. The Palms is in a low key part of town away from the throngs on the Strip, but close to more street action and browsing. We also visited the other hotels in that area and found we liked the Palms best. There are many things to do at the hotel, all adjacent to the casino floor.I recomend touring the casino floor first,as you walk in a circular path and pick a place to meet later.I enjoyed my stay there!
