By Hidden Vacations User from Phoenix • Great airport location
Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10] Hotel has really nice staff and friendly. Great DIA airport location. Not too close, not too far. Will definatley go back, always.

Overall Rating: 2 Location [6] • Room [2] • Service [2] My wife and I checked into the hotel and got the last room available. It turned out to be a smoking room and we were there for less than 30 minutes when my wife started getting headaches. I called the front desk and the clerk said she "understood" and we could check out if we were not satisfied.
When I returned the keys to the front desk, I was told there would be no charge an... [more]d that the credit card transaction had not even been processed. I'm sure you can guess what happened when my American Express bill arrived.
Yep, we were charged for the room. When I called the manager, he said that we were charged because we had used the bathroom. Now, I've heard of pay toilets before, but $100...
The manager said he would look into my request for a refund and call me back. That was a month ago and still no return call, though I have left him at least two messages.
My advise--stay away. [less]

Overall Rating: 2 I had the misfortune of having reservations on 4/29/05 and 4/30/05 for the Gateway Inn/Best Western in Aurora. I booked my trip through a 3rd party for what was supposedly a better rate. I had booked a non smoking rooming being a severe asthmatic.
To make a long story short, I arrived at the hotel, checked in and went upstairs. To my disappointment, they stuck me in a smoking room.... [more] I called down to the front desk to be told they did not have any non-smoking rooms left and that I could try another smoking room to see if it was any better. Ugh! I give the gentleman at the front desk credit though - he was friendly and did appear to understand my health situation.
I immediately started calling around elsewhere looking for another hotel with a non smoking room. I checked out as I did not feel like having a full blown asthma attack.
To add insult to injury, the manager was not readily available when I was briefly at the hotel. Today I found out today were not willing to refund any of the money to the third party that I made the reservations through. Their attitude was 'oh well'. I guess I can consider it a lesson learned.
My advice to non smokers looking at staying at the Gateway Inn is to keep on driving. Aurora has lots of other nice hotels. [less]
