The atmosphere and furnishings are elegant and comfortable, and the location in Seattle is great. However, the check-in staff did not seem to match the overall quality of the hotel, not being able to find a message left for us or answer questions. We had a problem with one of the windows not being shut properly and leaking in street noise and cold air. Maintenance came to check on it, but could not correct the problem. Then my husband figured it out on his own and fixed it. But the bed was extremely comfortable and the suite was spacious and well arranged. We enjoyed it greatly in spite of the litte snafus.

New hotel across the street from the university and two nearby hospitals.

I wish the hotel would give more reasonable nightly rates to families using the nearby hospitals and families visiting the university.

I needed a room and was a walk-in customer. The front desk employees told me that they only had one room available, a suite at $200 a night. I hadnt been able to find a room elsewhere, so I was forced to take the suite. The front desk employee said he would wave the $12 parking fee.
The suite was on the 3rd floor, and wrapped around the front of the building with views of Broadway and Madison. I went back downstairs to eat dinner in the on-site restaurant which was horrible and overpriced. On my way back through the lobby, I observed the front desk employees offering a walk in customer a choice of regular rooms - they lied to me and forced me into an overpriced suite. I did not say anything, I just accepted it and went up to my room to sleep. The next problem was that none of the blinds in the bedroom closed and I had to sleep with the traffic lights and car headlights blasting into my bed room at eye level throughout the night.
I got up and checked out and they tried to charge me for the parking which they had said they would wave. I had to argue with the clerk to get that taken off the bill. Then 2 days later, I received a charge on my debit card for $108.68. I promptly called the hotel and explained why I was calling. The woman who took my call put me on hold for 25 minutes, and then someone else picked up and said "who are you holding for?". Finally I was transferred to the General Manager, who told me the charges were for smoking in the room. I told him that I do not smoke, and that those charges were not correct. He said he had found evidence of smoking in the room and that the charges would stay. I have initiated an investigation with the BBB of Seattle and plan on getting my lawyer involved.
I would recommend avoiding this hotel and its schemes at all costs to any traveler, especially those on business.

My husband and I stayed at the Silver Cloud Hotel at Broadway in September of 2005. Check-in was easy, front-desk was friendly and knowledgeable. The lobby was bright and clean. The business center came in handy for using the internet (although you could use the internet in the hotel rooms if you brought your own computer).

Our room was tidy, and it was a medium-sized room. We did have a problem with a bathroom light that was not working, and after two requests, it was finally fixed. Another problem I had was with housekeeping. I asked in writing to leave extra towels. I also left a tip with the note. When we arrived in the room, the money was taken, but no extra towels were left for us!

We loved the 24-hour pool and gym hours! The area was well-kept. We used the shuttle service often, which came in handy because downtown is a bit of a walk, at least for the two of us. The continental breakfast was great- we enjoyed the selection of foods.

Overall, our stay was above average. It wasn't perfect, but what in life usually is? I would recommend this hotel, and would most likely stay here again if we were in town again.

Our family booked 11 rooms for a family wedding and were very pleased with the hotel. The staff was helpful and the shuttle convenient. The second floor rooms were off a patio where our family could meet and visit. The patio had no charis but that was the only drawback. We brought chairs and had a great time. Breakfast was great. I would recommend it for any large gathering.
