Gold Dredge Number 8DescriptionGold Dredge No. 8 is an authentic gold-mining site, reminding about the "gold fever" that swept the nation and lured miners and entrepreneurs into the frontiers of Alaska. The centerpiece of this attraction is a 1928 gold dredge, similar to machines in Dawson City and Nome. Visitors are guided through the dredge to view its equipment and gain a better understanding of its size. At Drift Mine exhibit visitors can learn about stratification and classification of the many layer above the gold bearing layer. Then visitors have the unique opportunity of panning for gold. A hearty Miner's Stew lunch are offered in the historic dining hall.
