El Dorado Gold Mine Tour DescriptionThe El Dorado Gold Mine offers a lively and fascinating tour of Alaska's gold history. A train carries visitors though an impressively staged educational tour, including a trip through a tunnel in the permafrost. During the two-hour guided tour visitors will learn many interesting things about the history of Alaska's gold mining, meet and talk with Alaska miners and learn about present-day prospecting methods. After a short course in gold mining, everyone can try panning for gold and go home with enough gold dust to fill a plastic locket - typically $5 to $35 worth!

Operating HoursDates of Operation: Mid-May through mid-September. Daily tours are provided 9:45 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., except for Saturday when there is an afternoon tour only.
Getting ThereThe El Dorado Gold Mine is located nine miles north of Fairbanks, just past Fox, on the Elliott Highway (mile 1.3 Elliott Highway). Look for our sign on the right hand side of the Elliott Highway as you are heading North on Highway 2.
