Wupatki National MonumentDescriptionWupatki is the only known location in this region where physical evidence from at least 3 archeologically separate ancient Puebloan cultures is found together in a number of archeological sites. The largest of the pueblos is Wupatki Ruin, located in the southeastern part of the monument. This area was inhabited by the Sinagua people (the name means "without water" in Spanish). They built here a sprawling three-story pueblo containing nearly 100 rooms. They also constructed what is believed to be a ball court. The ruins of the ancient village can be still seen today. Three hiking trails provide unique and rewarding sights within this scenic park. Visitors can picnic atop a cinder cone and enjoy stunning panoramic views.
