 This small museum is the perfect first stop on an exploration of Arizona. The Museum of Northern Arizona tells about the archaeology, ethnology, geology, biology, and fine arts of the region.

 Visitors of the Coconino National Forest can climb the highest mountain in Arizona, fish in crystal-clear lakes, swim in desert creeks under red rock cliffs, or ski through parks and meadows and ponderosa pines.

 The Arboretum at Flagstaff is home to one of the largest collections of high country wildflowers in America. It includes a butterfly garden, an herb garden, a shade garden, and a passive solar greenhouse.

 Lowell Observatory is one of the oldest astronomical observatories in the Southwest. It offers numerous fun and educational exhibits, but the main attraction is the chance to observe the planets and stars through the observatory's 24-inch telescope.

 This ancient pueblo once housed almost 100 members of the Anasazi and Sinagua tribes. Three hiking trails provide unique and rewarding sights within this scenic park. Visitors can picnic atop a cinder cone and enjoy stunning panoramic views.

 The Gallery displays works of Arizonan artist Ted De Grazia, who achieved worldwide acclaim for his colorful paintings of people and places of the Southwest. The gallery is packed with De Grazia originals, and the gift shop offers a wide variety of merchandize and prints of his work.

 The Museum of Anthropology features changing exhibits on archaeology, human origins, history and society. Culture, traditions, beliefs are themes of the museum’s exhibits.

 This small but popular zoo is an important breeding center for several endangered species. Giant anteaters, white rhinoceroses, tigers, and zebras are inhabitants of the zoo.

 The Pueblo Grande Museum features the ruins of an ancient Hohokam village that was one of several villages along the Salt River between A.D. 300 and 1400. Three exhibition galleries hold displays on the Hohokam culture and archaeological methods.

 Tempe Historical Museum focuses on the preservation and interpretation of Tempe's history. It also includes an exhibit on the prehistoric Hohokam Indians who lived in the area. Admission is free.
