Mission San Xavier del BacDescriptionMission San Xavier del Bac is the oldest Catholic church in the United States still serving the community for which it was built. The blindingly white adobe building is often called the White Dove of the Desert. The church was constructed out of native materials by Franciscan missionaries between 1783 and 1797.
