Yuma Crossing State Historic ParkDescriptionIn 19th century Yuma was a busy river port, and Yuma Crossing, the narrow spot on the Colorado River, was the site of the military's Quartermaster Depot. It was used by the US Army to store and distribute supplies for all the military posts in Arizona, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and Texas. The Quartermaster Depot began to lose its importance, and by 1883, the depot was closed. A few structures from the depot's active period are still standing. Now it is home for transportation museum. Exhibits tell the story of those who lived and worked at Yuma Crossing. There is also a gift shop, and picnic area.
