Venice BeachDescriptionVenice Beach is located 14 miles west of Los Angeles. It is famous for its canals and a colorful boardwalk. Venice of America was founded by tobacco millionaire Abbot Kinney in 1905 as a beach resort town. Several miles of canals were dug to drain the marshes, and a block-long arcaded business street with Venetian architecture was built. By 1910, Venice Scenic Railway, Aquarium, Virginia Reel, Whip, Racing Derby and other rides and game booths were added.
Today Venice is one of the most vibrant and eclectic areas of Southern California. It’s a wonderful place for city walk sightseeing, dining and people-watching. Venice Beach features Ocean Front Walk, the numerous beach volleyball courts, the tennis courts, Skate Dancing plaza, and the bike trail. The Venice Breakwater is known as local surf spot in Venice.
