Mark Twain House

Description

Built in 1874, this 19-room Victorian mansion is a wonderful example of the late-19th-century style sometimes known as Picturesque Gothic. It was the former home of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as Mark Twain. While the famous author and his family lived in this house, he published his major novels, including Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, and The Prince and the Pauper. The interior of the house was the work of distinguished designers of the time, including Louis Comfort Tiffany.
