Key West Aquarium DescriptionThe oldest attraction on the island, the Key West Aquarium has delighted visitors since 1934. The Aquarium was originally an open air aquarium, one of the first and largest of open air aquariums in the world at that time. Today, it is nearly twice the size of the original with the addition of the Atlantic Shores exhibit and most of the building has been enclosed for all-weather viewing.
Key West Aquarium is home to hundreds of eels, sharks, turtles, barracudas, stingrays, and tropical fish. A touch tank in the entryway enables you to touch sea cucumbers, horseshoe and hermit crabs, even horse and queen conchs. Guided tours include petting and feeding of sharks and some other sea creatures.
