Historical Museum of Southern FloridaDescriptionThe Historical Museum of Southern Florida is dedicated to telling the story of South Florida and the Caribbean, in order to produce a better quality of life by understanding the past, linking it to the present and building a better future.
The Historical Museum hosts a permanent gallery and a special gallery with some changing exhibitions each year. Moreover, the museum houses the Research Center, a non-circulating library and archives open to museum visitors, and The Indies Company, the museum's store, which offers a unique array of Florida-themed books and gifts.
The Historical Museum of Southern Florida is accredited by the American Association of Museums.
Entrance Fee$5 adults; $4 seniors and college students with identification; $2 for children 6-12; free for Historical Museum members and children under 6. Sundays are Contribution Day
Operating hoursMonday - Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Third Thursdays: 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Sunday: noon - 5 p.m.
Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
LocationBy Metrorail Get off at Government Center Station, walk south across NW 1st Street and go up the stairs on the north side of the Cultural Center, or use the ramp on the south side. The entrance is on the plaza.
By Car, northbound If traveling north on I-95, take the NW 2nd Street exit. Turn right onto NW 2nd Street, and then right on NW 2nd Avenue for one block. The Cultural Center is on the left and the Miami-Dade Cultural Center parking garage is on the right.
By Car, southbound If traveling south on I-95, exit at Port of Miami/NW 8th Street. Turn left onto NW 2nd Street, and then turn right onto NW 2nd Avenue. The Cultural Center is on the left, and its parking garage on the right.
