Hawaii Tropical Botanical GardenDescriptionHawaii Tropical Botanical Garden is located 8 miles north of Hilo, between the crashing surf and a thundering waterfall. The garden features the world's largest selection of tropical plants growing in a natural environment - it's more than 1,800 species of tropical plants, including palms, bromeliads, ginger, heleconia, orchids, and ornamentals. Nature trails meander through a true tropical rainforest, crossing bubbling streams, passing several spectacular waterfalls and the stunning ocean vistas along the rugged Pacific coast.
Entrance FeeAdults: $15 Children (age 6-16): $5 Children under 6 are free.
Operating HoursHawaii Tropical Botanical Garden is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. everyday, with Garden admissions ending at 4 p.m.
Getting ThereHawaii Tropical Botanical Garden is located about 8 miles north of Hilo. From Hilo: Take Route 19. Watch for a large blue highway sign on the right saying "Scenic Route." About 1 1/2 miles on the left you'll see the registration office.
From Kona: Follow Route 19 to the Hamakua Coast until you are about 10 miles from Hilo. Pass the Pepeekeo post office. Watch for blue highway sign on the right saying "Scenic Route." Turn left at the cross road intersection before the pedestrian overpass.
