Panaewa Rainforest ZooDescriptionPanaewa Rainforest Zoo is a 12-acre zoo, nestled in the heart of the Panaewa Forest Reserve south of Hilo. It is the only outdoor rainforest zoo in the United States. The zoo is home to some 50 species of animals from rainforests around the globe - Sumatran tigers, Brazilian tapirs, rare pygmy hippopotamus, and endangered Hawaiian birds. All animals are exhibited in a natural setting.

Operating HoursThe zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, except Christmas and New Year's Day. Tiger feeding is 3:30 p.m. daily.
