Dodge National Finals RodeoThe Frontier Rodeo Association appeared in 1942, this association has conducted a rodeo continuously in Pocatello for the past 57 years. At first it was the Victory Rodeo, and was established to provide entertainment for the troops that were stationed at the Pocatello Army Airfield. Lester Selders, one of the founding members and current Chairman Emeritus, has continued to serve the rodeo for all of its years.
The rodeo changed its name to the Pocatello Rodeo and Indian Ceremonial after the Second World War and received national recognition in Life Magazine. But it wasn't the last name! The name changed again to the Pocatello Frontier Rodeo some time later .
The rodeo continued to be conducted outdoors( from 1959 to 1981), and then in 1959 was moved indoors to the Idaho State University "Mini-Dome"that is now known as Holt Arena. Selders says "the move into the dome breathed new life into our rodeo." In 1987, Pocatello, and the now renamed Frontier Rodeo Association, was once again thrust into the national limelight with the inauguration of the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo.
