Lincoln Park ZooDescriptionEstablished in 1868, Lincoln Park Zoo began with a pair of swans donated by New York's Central Park. The zoo grew through donations of animals from Chicago residents and the purchase of a collection from the Barnum and Bailey Circus. This 35-acre beautifully landscaped zoo truly corresponds the term "zoological gardens": landmark Georgian Revival brick buildings and modern structures sit among gently rolling pathways, green lawns, and flower gardens. Lincoln Park Zoo is particularly famous for its Great Ape House, it features one of the best assemblages of gorillas and chimpanzees in the world. Other attractions include the popular Sea Lion Pool, Small Mammal-Reptile House, Lion House and Elephant House.
