Louisiana Art & Science MuseumDescriptionThe Louisiana Art & Science Museum challenges the imagination and invites visitors to explore the worlds of art and science. Permanent exhibits include the Southern Art Collection, focusing on Louisiana artists of the first half of the 20th century, and the Ancient Egypt Gallery, a re-creation of an Egyptian tomb with 5,000-year-old mummy. The Louisiana Art & Science Museum also hosts traveling exhibits and conducts art and science workshops.
The Irene W. Pennington Planetarium is the pride of the Louisiana Art & Science Museum. Its 60-foot dome theater is one of the most sophisticated multimedia presentation theaters in the country. It not only displays 15,000 stars, but it is one of the few planetariums capable of projecting digital imagery accompanied by a 5.1 surround sound. The Planetarium offers sky shows, large-format films and laser shows.
