Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World

Description

Blaine Kern is the best-known artist and creator of Mardi Gras floats. He makes more than three quarters of the floats used by the various krewes every Carnival season. Blaine Kern often personally conducts tours through his studios. Visitors will see his collection of float sculptures and the working proccess from making small "sketches" of the figures to creating and painting the enormous sculptures that adorn Mardi Gras floats each year. There is a gift shop with Carnival memorabilia. Do not forget your camera!

All tours include free King Cake & Coffee. Group rates available.

Doors open: 9:30 a.m.
Last Tour: 4:30 p.m.

Getting There

Cross the river on the Canal St. Ferry and take the free shuttle from the dock (it meets every ferry).
