Captain Swift InnDescriptionCaptain Frank Swift founded Maine's first passenger schooner fleet while living in this white clapboard village landmark inn. Initially constructed for lumber trader Simon Hunt in times of the presidency of James Madison, this house retains its remarkable wide pine floors, chair rails, exposed beams, tangled moldings, and five fireplaces, one with a beehive oven. The innkeepers, Norm, Linda, and Alex, have traveled all over New England and liked Camden the most. Summers are perfect for vacation here on the coast, and in the autumn the foliage is stunning. In the winter, a restorative quietness settles over the village; and in the spring gardens declare the arrival of the season with the blossoming of flowers.
Captain Swift Inn offers four guest rooms with private in-room baths and queen size beds. Two rooms feature gas logs. All rooms have air-conditioning. Wireless Internet is available for laptops.
Guests will be served a full, delicious breakfast in the dining room each morning between 8:30 and 10:00. The menu changes daily but always features inn favorites like breakfast casseroles, stuffed French toast, strawberry-almond waffles, baked apple pancake soufflé, crepes Chantilly, and crème brulée French toast.
