Missouri Botanical Garden

Description

Missouri Botanical Garden place of serenity, beauty, and fun amid the bustle of the city. Opened in 1859, it is the nation's oldest botanical garden, and, undoubtedly, one of the best gardens. The 79-acre site houses a Japanese strolling garden, a Chinese garden, a geodesic-domed rainforest greenhouse, a scented garden for the visually impaired, an 1882 brick conservatory housing camellias, a sculpture garden with works by Carl Milles, and beatiful themed gardens ranging from a Victorian garden to an English woodland garden.

Entrance Fee

Adults $8.
Free for children 12 and under.

Operating Hours

Daily 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Memorial Day to Labor Day: open Wednesday evenings until 9 p.m.
Morning walking hours, Wednesdays and Saturdays 7 a.m. - 9 a.m.
Closed on Christmas.

Getting There

The Botanical Garden is easily accessible from the major highways in the area:
Going east on Highway 44, exit at Vandeventer and turn right, then left at Shaw Boulevard.
Going west on Highway 44, exit at Vandeventer and turn left, then left at Shaw Boulevard.
From Highway 40, take Kingshighway south to Vandeventer and turn left then right at Shaw Boulevard.
