International UFO Museum & Research Center

Description

In July of 1947, Lt. Walter Haut served in the US Air Force as Public Information Officer at the Roswell Army Air Field. Under orders from his CO, Colonel William Blanchard, he wrote and distributed the famous July 8, 1947 article that appeared in the Roswell Daily newspaper and in media around the world.

In July 1947, Glenn Dennis worked at the Ballard Funeral Home in Roswell, New Mexico. His involvement in the Roswell Incident is known all over the world. Mr. Dennis' accounts are some of the most convincing of all witnesses interviewed.

With a world so hungry for facts on the Roswell Incident, Walter Haut got together with Glenn Dennis and decided the way to give the public their stories was to open a UFO Museum. Max Littell was then contacted to assist the organization of the IUFOMRC.

During the first four years the museum was open, it welcomed 144,997 curious visitors. In 1996 the Tourism Association of New Mexico awarded the IUFOMRC its coveted "Top Tourist Destination of New Mexico" award. In 2002 Haut was inducted into the New Mexcio Department of Tourism Hall of Fame. Then the museum was named New Mexico Main Street Business of the Year.
