MacMaster House Bed & Breakfast InnThe MacMaster House was one of the first homes to be built in the prestigious King's Hill neighborhood. Actually, by 1885 there was only a handful of palatial homes in the area. But in the period 1887-1893 the streetcar and the city's general economic expansion arrived and the neighborhood began to be significantly developed.
By 1900 it was firmly established as an enclave of the rich. William MacMaster, scottish by birth, was a prominent Portland financier and businessman and came to Oregon to promote the building of railroads. He is also well known as a founder of the exclusive Waverly Golf Club. Now his house is opened for visitors!
In the MacMaster House Bed & Breakfast Inn you will find large common areas with many styles of antiques, some original to the house. A spacious parlor room features a large fireplace, plenty of seating for conversation, reading or enjoying a glass of wine, and an upright piano for guest enjoyment. Have a nice talk with other guests or enjoy a quiet corner with a book or a newspaper. There are seven fireplaces in the inn, which make the rooms much cozier. A gourmet breakfast is served on English Minton china in the elegant dining room.
