Gettysburg National Military ParkDescriptionThe great Battle of Gettysburg fought here July 1-3, 1863. This battle was a major turning point in the Civil War. It resulted in a Union victory for the Army of the Potomac and turned back the invasion of the North by General Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. It was also the bloodiest battle of the Civil War: more than 51,000 soldiers being killed, wounded or captured. The park, commemorating this historic event, incorporates nearly 6,000 acres, with 26 miles of park roads and over 1,400 monuments, markers, and memorials.
Entrance FeePark entry is free of charge. There is a charge for the Electric Map and Cyclorama programs.
Operating HoursThe park is open daily 6 a.m. to 10: p.m. from April 1 to October 31, and 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. from November 1 to March 31.
Getting ThereGettysburg National Military Park is located 50 miles northwest of Baltimore. From north and south, follow US 15 to Gettysburg; from east and west, follow US 30.
