Newport Art MuseumSo, what's interesting about The Newport Art Museum? Well, it collects, preserves, exhibits and interprets historic and contemporary visual arts of the highest quality with an emphasis on the rich artistic heritage of Newport, the state of Rhode Island and southeastern New England.
We have already told you about that fact that the museum consists of several buildings. For example, visit Griswold House. It's an 1864 Stick Style building designed by Richard Morris Hunt; the home of the Newport Art Museum and Art Association since 1916. There you will find galleries, lecture hall, period rooms and offices. Visiting of Cushing Gallery, a 1919 neo-classical building is no less interesting place to visit. Climate controlled galleries are accessible for visitors.
Gilbert S. Kahn Building, home of the Coleman Center for Creative Studies, is the famous Museum's art school. Art classes offered quarterly, so you can also take part!
And please, don't miss The Griffon and the Museum Shops. They are out-of-the-ordinary consigned and new merchandise.
