Mount Rushmore National Memorial

Description

Mount Rushmore National Memorial attracts visitors from many different countries. To some it reflects Patriotism; to others it reflects the natural beauty of our nation, to some it is a great work of art. The memorial represents the first 150 years of the history of the United States of America with the 60-foot sculptures of former U.S. Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. These unique sculptures were made by sculptor Gutzon Borglum and 400 workers between October 4, 1927 and October 31, 1941. The entire memorial covers 1,278 acres and is 5,725 feet above sea level.
