Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum

Description

The Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum is one of ten presidential libraries controlled by the National Archives and Records Administration.

The library holds forty million pages of historical documents which involve the papers from the whole public career of Lyndon Baines Johnson and also from those of close colleagues. These papers and the huge administrative files from the presidency are used essentially by scholars.

The museum demonstrates traveling exhibitions connected with American history in its changing exhibition gallery. Special exhibitions are arranged in-house and shown in the same room. Documents and artifacts comprised in these shows are on loan from other establishments and private collections all around United States.

The museum is handicap accessible, equipped with elevators in the central lobby with access to all exhibit floors and the lower floor restrooms. Transcripts for deaf and hard-of-hearing, Braille booklets and wheelchairs are available at the lobby information department. Closed caption video demonstrations are in English and Spanish.
