Asian Cultures Museum & Educational CenterDescriptionThe Museum was established in 1974 by the Billie Trimble Arts Foundation, Inc. Started from the 1950's, Mrs. Billie Trimble Chandler taught English in Japan for seventeen years. Throughout this period, she collected great number of artifacts and commissioned many works of art. These became the heart of the Museum's collection. Later, the collection was enlarged to include works of art from other Pacific Rim nations and the Indian subcontinent. The institution became The Museum of Oriental Cultures in 1982. For over thirteen years, the Museum's collection was stored in different locations. In 1996, the Museum gained a name The Asian Cultures Museum and Educational Center, and opened to the public in February 1997.
