Bayou Bend Collection and GardensDescriptionBayou Bend lets visitors step back in time to witness the elegant lifestyle of the first half of the 20th century. The mansion was built in the 1920s by Houston's most prominent architect, John F. Staub, for Miss Ima Hogg. She created a series of beautiful gardens. In 1957 Miss Hogg donated her home, complete with period pieces dating back to the 1600s and the superb collection of art, to the Museum of Fine Arts. Presently the collection includes several thousand objects installed in 28 rooms. It is considered one of the nation's foremost gatherings of American painting and decorative arts. Bayou Bend is a must-see for antiques collectors and gardeners.
