Hermann ParkDescriptionThe Park’s 445 acres contain the Houston Zoo, Museum of Natural Science, the Houston Garden Center and Japanese Gardens, Miller Outdoor Theatre, the Pioneer Log House Museum, and a public golf course. The Park has something to offer for everyone. People of all ages, which totality more than 5.5 million every year, adore the free plays at Miller Outdoor Theatre, the museums, and the nice golfing. Kids especially like the zoo, miniature train, rolling down the Miller Hill, the pedal boats, and the outstanding handicapped accessible playgrounds with water sprays that cool them in the summer.
Anyone, looking for some rest and quietness, will love the thrilling new Jones Reflection Pool and enlarged lake with wildlife flora and fauna. To assure that Hermann Park stays a treasure for the future, the Hermann Park Conservancy (formerly Friends of Hermann Park) is collecting money and working with the City to better facilities and parking and to save the trees and wildlife habitats. Houston is lucky to have such a remarkable natural oasis in the heart of the big city and to have the Conservancy working on its side to make sure Hermann Park is around for many generations to come.
