National Museum of Funeral HistoryDescriptionThe National Museum of Funeral History opened its doors on October 18, 1992. The Museum was founded by Mr. Robert L. Waltrip after 25 years of dreaming about establishment that would teach the public and save the vast heritage of the funeral industry.
With over 20,000 square feet of exhibition space the National Museum of Funeral History is the biggest educational center on Funeral Heritage in the United States and may be in the world. The showings include a restored horse-drawn hearse, ancient automobile hearses, and a 1916 Packard funeral bus. One can explore memorabilia and trivia from the funerals of many celebrated people including Martin Luther King, Jr., John Wayne, Elvis, Abraham Lincoln, JFK, Nixon, and many others. Attractions include a full-size copy of King Tut's sarcophagus.
