The Space Needle DescriptionThe 605-foot-tall Space Needle is visible throughout Downtown Seattle. It was built for the 1962 World's Fair. The original name of the Space Needle was "The Space Cage." Today the Space Needle is the quintessential symbol of Seattle. Its observation deck provides superb views of the city and its surroundings - 360-degree views of Elliott Bay, Queen Anne Hill, the UW, and the Cascade Range. Visitors can dine at the elite, top-floor SkyCity revolving restaurant, or just enjoy views from the yummy coffee bar.
