Elk River Mountain BikingDescriptionWelcome to the wild and beautifull world of mountain biking in West Virginia. Since 1985 the Center has been perfecting mountain biking program, making it the oldest mountain bike center in the East. It has steady ties with such famous programs as Dirt Camp, John Stamstad's Singletrack Ranch and Western Spirit. The tours are carefully planned to use the beautiful surrounding scenery in connection with the seasons. The trips combine hard-core singletrack with tender rolling high country. All the terrain one ever wanted, plus the bonus of the concerned staff and warm hospitality.
Pocahontas County, stated as one of Outside Magazine's best counties for the outdoors, is the beginning of eight rivers and home to 302,000 acres of national forest. Elk River offers direct access to miles of excellent terrain. Trails start at the center, traverse the Gauley Divide and Sharp's Knob, and the Highland Scenic Highway which has access to many more trails in the Cranberry Glades and Williams River area. The Greenbrier River Trail, a 75 mile long rail/trail runs from Cass, through Marlinton and south to Caldwell passing through enduring West Virginia beauty with lodging and camping along the way.

Getting ThereElk River is located 5 miles south of WV 66 (Snowshoe turnoff) and 16 miles north of Marlinton on US 219. Look for a large green sign "Elk River Inn & Restaurant" and turn directly onto a bridge over the Elk headwaters.
