Big Sandy & TygartDescriptionEach of these adventures offers an unparalleled opportunity to raft on rivers that few get to experience. The waterlevels of these rivers count very much on the whims of nature. West Virginia spring weather is usually when these rivers are at their peak, but they can be running every time they have steady rainfall.
The Big Sandy is sheer technical run that includes two waterfalls, the first of which only can be rafted at appropriate water levels. The character of this stream is very steep drops and very little flat water between rapids.
The Tygart Gorge is more abrupt than the Cheat Canyon and larger than the Sandy. It offers big drops and amazing rapids such as "Hard Tongue Falls" and "Shoulder Snapper," plus the chance of not meeting anyone else on the river.
