It was tucked away at the end of a private road out of reach of anyone except the very privileged. It sat alone at the edge of a bluff overlooking the Ohio Valley and you could view it only from afar. Now the public may enjoy this wonderful piece of history as a bed-and-breakfast , and may have special events such as weddings, anniversaries, reunions, etc.
Construction of Rosemont Manor has begun in 1929. This was 10,000 square foot classic stone mansion. Each stone was carried up the mountainside from the Ohio River and it was finally completed in 1932. It has breathtaking views of the Ohio Valley from two wrap-around porches. Watching back from the "tête-à-tête" gazebo to the estate, the picturesque scene can only be described appropriately here in West Virginia as - "almost Heaven." The grounds have been tailored to "putting-green" quality, manicured almost to perfection. Walkways of flagstone invite you from the parking area, surround the lodge, and lead the way to the massive outdoor swimming pool.The central gathering area with its chalet-type ceiling is the Great Room. Its focal point is an exquisite wood-burning fireplace adorned with Italian marble in shades of jade. The Conference Room offers a unique setting to assemble, with its wood-burning fireplace built of stone like those used to construct the inn. The Fitness Room is equipped with a tanning bed, free weights, and a treadmill. The Kitchen is available to families or groups to prepare meals if the entire inn is rented exclusively. Off-site caterers are welcome to use the kitchen.
