Adventures On Magic River

Description

This tours are "flatwater" kayaking trips on the Upper Monongahela Water Trial, they are exciting for all ages.

Tours are about 2.5 hours long on the quiet river near the beginning of the Monongahela, a river rich in beauty and history. They are peaceful, magical trip back in time. You would learn about the life of early settlers, how they fought to survive in a hostile world; navigation on what was called "the western waters," how Robert Fulton's invention, launched on the Monongahela in 1812, affected the nation's character for the next 50 years; and the bequest of the industrial era in West Virginia - the years when the main destination was coal,when coal wars and mine catastrophes formed the state's character and heritage.

Folklore is another feature of these tours. Appalachia is full with tales of the lives of people - and their deaths, too. These tours concentrate on the ghost stories from the river's past.

All tours start with an orientation and introduction to kayaking. The current is slow and mild. All equipment is included.
