Milwaukee Public MuseumYou can take a small step back in time to the turn-of-the-century Streets of Old Milwaukee and to ancient Mediterranean civilizations. Or, take a giant leap back more than 65 million years to The Third Planet, see the world's largest-known dinosaur skull and a life-sized replica of Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Experience the Museum's permanent exhibit, The Puelicher Butterfly Wing, where you can stroll amid free-flying butterflies from around the world.
The Museum's style and techniques have been widely admired and copied across the whole country. In 1890 the first known total habitat diorama, The Muskrat Group was created. This diorama is still on exhibit in this Museum. The total diorama set the standard for museum exhibit techniques and became known in museum circles as the "Milwaukee Style." The evolution of the "Milwaukee Style" continues nowadays in exhibits such as the Rain Forest and the Third Planet.
