Both buildings are classical in design and as is typical of New England architecture They have been added to on different occasions. The extravagant wraparound Colonial Revival porch added to the yellow building is a prominent landmark in a row of beautiful townhouses built by the founders of Montpelier.

 The Capitol is a magnificent building located in downtown Montpelier. The gold leaf dome includes real gold and offers a spectacular contrast with the wooded hillside of Hubbard Park in the background. After 140 years the Vermont State House still commands the landscape of Montpelier.
